2024 Māori cultural Festival

Whānau from across the rohe gathered at Raetihi Primary School yesterday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Ruapehu Māori Culture Festival With support from Creative Communities funding through the Ruapehu District Council the event was a beautiful reflection of Māori culture, history, and unity.

Te Korowai O Wainuiarua provided a delicious hangi for the tamariki, who performed with incredible pride and energy. Their performances honoured our tūpuna while also embodying the strength, resilience, and hope of future generations.

The wairua of the day was one of connection, mana, and determination as we celebrated our shared history and looked ahead to a future where the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi continue to be upheld. It was a powerful reminder of the strength we have when we come together as whānau, standing in unity for a brighter, more equitable tomorrow.
